How to Choose the Right Dog Clippers
When you are planning of grooming your dog, dog clippers are an absolute must. While you might not give it a second thought, if you have a long haired dog it might just be the key product you need to keep him happy and comfortable during the hot summer months. Comfort isn't the only reason to trim your dog's hair down; style is always an important thing to consider.
Not much differentiates human clippers from dog clippers. Often times, dog trimmers might be more compact or make less noise, so that the dog is not frightened, but outwardly they look very much the same. Unlike the one size fits all human variety, dog trimmers come in a couple of different sizes. The smaller, less powerful trimmers are designed for styling small to medium sized dogs with light to medium thick coats. The larger more powerful clippers are designed to deal with the massive coats of the large dogs or the extra thick coats of some of the smaller to large dogs. Remember there are small breeds out there that seem to be more fur that dog, for these pets you'll need the heavier duty clippers to take care of the coat.
If you are just starting out on groom your dog, or staring a grooming business you might want to invest in a groomer's kit. The kit would contain dog clippers, guards, scissors, and comb. Some kits would even include an apron and instructional DVD so that you can make the grooming process go smoother for both you and your pet. Just be aware of the type of dog hair you want to groom so that you get the right type of trimmers to begin with. Using a pair of clippers for a light weight coat on a dog with a thick coat can hurt the dog and mess up your trimmers.
Dog clippers also come in either corded or cordless. Cordless clippers are probably the best investment for the money really. While corded trippers are a little cheaper and you don't have to worry about whether or not there are fresh batteries or if it's fully charged all the time, there is the tangle danger that you will have to worry with. When you use a cordless tripper you don't have to worry about your dog getting tangled up in the cord. You also don't have to worry about trimming near the an outlet, giving you the freedom to trim outside if you'd like.
